New studio coming along...

So we're working hard over at the new studio (and by we I mean me and a great team I had in over the weekend). It's coming along indeed. Il reste plein d'affaires encore mais ça avance bien (if we don't count the non-sleep I'm getting)! On ouvre demain, mercredi le 20 juin. On va essayer d'avoir tout ça fini pour septembre (à 100%). Pour comparer, nous sommes à 75% de fini.

So there is waaaaaaay too much going on right now and I wish I'd kept up to date with this blog!

1- My dance company Entre-Deux is presently performing in the Montreal St-Ambroise Fringe Festival with the show Siblings (prelude to: Scary Tales & Broken Hearts). A 15 minute show using music by Montreal band Esmerine and an interactive set. It's a prelude to our 90 minute show set for Februaly 22-26th 2012. Tickets are 6$ and there's a show tonight @ 11:45 and another one Sunday @ 6:30. MainLine Theatre 3997 St-Laurent.

2- My dance school (Scream Dance Academy) is moving this summer to a bigger/brighter space on St-Hubert street in Montreal!!! Right right right beside Beaubien metro (seriously like 2 minutes away).

3- I'm co-producing an event with Productions Bizz on July 30th and 31st called Sphere where we're bringing in teachers from NYC and the best from Montreal for a weekend of hip-hop dance and culture. Registration is limited so sign up asap!

That's about all for now... there are 16 drop-in dance classes per week @ Scream Dance Academy with new styles (waacking, urban jazz, house, videostyle...) and new teachers. Click here to see the schedule.

Hey guys, it's been so long! I'm so sorry for not updating my blog as often as I should... I know I know...

Here's the latest:

I have opened my new studio!! SDA-HQ (Scream Dance Academy HeadQuarters) at 24 Mont-Royal Ouest, suite #704. It's right beside Studio Sweatshop!

We offer drop-in dance classes in 5 different styles, 5 nights a week from 7-8.

I'm currently looking for artists to present in the second annual edition of my production STAGE.

Stage is a one night "festival" of the arts. It's open to professionals as much as it is to amateurs. The goal is to gather as much talent on one stage evening, celebrate diversity, encourage development of emerging artists as much as learn from professional artists. I'm looking for pieces in dance, theatre, music, spoken word, pretty much anything you can perform on a stage - the key word here is diversity. the whole production is pre-planned so the artists can direct their focus on their pieces only.

The dealine for submissions is September 26th and the auditions start October 3rd.

STAGE will be held at UQAM at Salle Marie-Gérin Lajoie on the evening of December 4th 2010.

Speaking of calendars, we're selling some as a fundraiser! Our amazing photographer Valérie Boulet and our awesome graphic designer Marie-Eve Larose have put together our new 2010 calendar. It's full of pics from our photo shoots in and out of class. We're selling the for $15 each and the money collected goes to help pay for the dancers' costumes. Please contact me for yours!

Salut!!

Just so y'all know what's going on...

As of August 29th, I've officially announced the opening of Scream Dance Academy!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Also, I'm opened a productions company called Lynsey Billing Productions!!
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

And, that I've got a new website (not that I didn't L♥VE my old one - but it was time for me to stop harassing & relying on other people) it's at lynseybillingproductions.com!!!
Yee haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw! And there was much rejoicing...

Classes began August 31st but if you're interested in beginner hip-hop fusion, the class starts Tuesday, September 15th, so it's not too late! My schedule will follow so just scroll down to see it.

Bonjour!

It's been a while! I've been under the radar.

CLICHÉ was amazing! It was almost a full house and the dancers were all so "on"! I couldn't have been more proud! The show was hilarious, touching... as always, so professional.
I am extremely proud of every one of my dancers!
We're probably having a viewing of the show at Boul Noir (under studio bizz) on march 11th. I'll keep you all posted. Phil will be selling the DVD for $5 as of that date too!
There will be pictures available from Valerie Boulet that day too - you can all order some prints!

As for me, I'm on pause. No drop-ins, no groups, not much of anything for now. I'm still dancing with SDC once a week (the group has morphed into a super group of 21 dancers). It's very low key for now. Lynsey needs some rest.

I'm thinking about teaching some drop-ins in the summer! Watch out for news about this! I'm sure you'll all get emails.

We're heading to NYC in a couple weeks to eat ice cream and of course dance like maniacs! We're 8 so far. If anyone wants to join us, please let me know asap!

So I miss you all. We'll talk soon, until then, be good!

J'ai une photographe qui vient dans mes cours cette semaine et la semaine prochaine pour prendre des photos pour un calendrier qu'on va vendre comme levée de fonds en décembre. C'est une très bonne amie, Valérie Boulet, elle est vraiment une excellente photographe!

En parlant de levées de fonds, SCREAM en fait un jeudi, le 23 octobre au B Side 3616 St-Laurent, coin Prince-Arthur. C'est un party avec le thême de cirque. Venez déguisés!! It's gonna be a BLAST!

Dès le 23 septembre 2008, vous auriez la possibilité d`acheter des cartes de danse pour mes cours de drop-ins!!

Et oui! Ils sont des petites cartes qui fittent dans vos portefeuilles avec 20 cours pre-achetés dessus - les cours vous reviendront à $10 chaque! C`est encore moins cher que quand on paye la session au complet! Ils coûtent $200 (20 cours x $10) et sont valides pour 9 mois! Ils sont super belles en plus!

EEEEEEE! Ça fait longtemps!
Je vais vous dire qu`est-ce qui se passe dans ma vie.
Cet été, j`ai fait plein de voyages; New York, Toronto...
J`ai dansé comme une folle à New York - autant que je me suis brisée un orteil!
J`ai vu Brian Freidman en train de faire une chorégraphie à Broadway Dance Centre, le gala de The Pulse (l`atelier de SYTYCD) et j`ai été dans la première rangée pour les compétitions prélininatoires pour House Dance International. Malade! I witnessed voguing for the first time and wow - that was freaking amazing!
Aujourd`hui je m`en vais à Québec et dans 2 semaines, en Maine pour faire du vélo!
Où est-ce la danse dans toutes ces voyages? Partout!
Je donne des drop-ins régulièrement les lundis et mardis au Studio Bizz et les mercredis à Studio CAM à Longueuil.

FRINGE

Ah, Monday morning and the Fringe is over, Barbie World is no more. I had so much fun, it was unbelievable. How many people do we know who get the opportunity to dance their show 6 times in a venue as great as Tangente!? Not to mention that Barbie World was presented 8 times this year and brought in more than 700 spectators. Most of the Fringe were people who've never seen or heard about Scream before! We were reviewed in the Gazette, covered in La Presse, I was interviewed on CJAD by Peter Anthony Holder. Ask me if I am proud? I can't answer that without saying how proud I am to have a group of girls who gave me their time, energy and hearts. Kim, Mylène, Isa, Jess, Tanya, Cynthia, Arianne, Hélo... you guys are fantastic! These girls are the best team I've ever had the chance to work with. This year was like a dream for me. Thanks to everyone who worked on the show (behind or on stage), everyone who inspired the show and everyone who came to the show. It would not have been possible without all of you. Thank you so very much.

One more thing to mention! On June 18th, Scream and ConfuZion took part in a dance competition called Équiterre. ConfuZion took home the 3rd place overall! Congrats guys!

C'était une journée très intéressant et le fun! J'étais avec une de mes danseuses de confuZion (Katrina) et ma soeur Kim (qui n'a pas fait l'audition) en attendant en ligne. On a attendu de 6 AM jusqu'a 9:00 dehors. Il y avait plein de caméras, de la sécurtié, plein d'énergie autour de nous et il fesait beau - un peu froid mais beau! Le monde dansait, riait, criait... Les portes sont ouvertes à 9h00. Quand on a rentré dans le théâtre, ils ont fait le check pour le métal et ils ont fouillés dans nos sacs - like we were criminals! Ooh la la. On a eu nos numéros et on a attendu what felt like forever assis dans le théâtre St. Denis. Finalement, après une 1/2 heure d'attente, une des productrices est venu sur scène pour nous expliquer comment la journée allait se passer. Oublie ça nos solos qu'on a composés! C'était pour être du free style. FREE STYLE?! WHAT?! Um yeah... Il fallait monter sur scène avec 9 autres danseurs et on avait 30 secondes chaque de free style pour montrer ce qu'on pouvait faire. Non seulement que c'était du freestyle, ils ont choisi la musique pour nous. On n'avait pas le choix pour rien! It was a little bit of a nightmare. Il fallait qu'on décide entre la musique slow ou du hip hop. Moi, j'ai choisi le slow... oh my gawd... j'aurais tellement pas dû! C'était le pire chanson au monde. C'était "No Air" de I don't know who. Awgh... Anyway, je ne me sentais pas bien dans ma peau, like a fish out of water, but j'ai fait mes 30 secondes pareil! I was a little jittery, not too much balance, I don't know if I was smiling, frowning, hahahahaha, I have no idea. It was weird. Anyway, je suis fière de moi de l'avoir fait! Je l'aurais regretté si je ne l'ai pas essayé. Malheureusement, je n'ai pas été retenue... damn you free style!

Je ne suis pas triste. Je va être ici cet été pour vous donner des cours!! YAY!

Et puisque je serais ici durant l'été, j'ajoute des drop-ins les mercredis! 2 nouveaux cours! Le hip-hop avancé et lyrique/contemporain. Je vous donnerai les heures aussi-tot que c'est fixe.

It's our show again!! Barbie World will be presented Saturday, May 17 th at 7:30pm.
I am happy to say that there are 35 tickets left as of this morning. If you are planning on coming, please contact me so I can reserve your seats. I don't like to turn people away so make sure you're name is on my list!
There will be no jazz technique class on Monday, May 19th, Studio bizz is closed for the holiday. Class resumes the 26th. BUT there IS definetly class on Tuesday the 20th. Hope you'll all be there!

Hellooooo...

Samedi passé était super! Les filles de Scream (et quelques danseuses dans ConfuZion) ont participé dans une masquerade qui avait lieu dans la Musée Juste Pour Rire. C'était vraiment cool. Tout le monde était masqué, il y avait de la bonne musique et la décoration était super. La troupe burlesque Madame Oui Oui Encore était là ainsi que une fille qui a dansé dans une voile suspendu par le plafond (je crois qu'elle était de Cirque de Soleil) c'était tout vraiment hot! J'adore les voiles! Finalement, c'est nous qui avons cloturé l'événement. C'était un peu petit comme scène mais nous avons réussi de sortir de là sans trop de bleus! Moi et Kim avons maquillées Scream (elle va surement mettre les photos sur sa page Facebook)... it was really a cool evening!

On fait un party chez Lola Lounge samedi, le 26 avril!! Woo! C'est un levée de fonds pour notre prochaine représentation de Barbie World. Si vous n'avez pas encore des billets pour Barbie World le 17 mai prochian, j'en aura au party que vous pourrez acheter (ils sont $15 chaque).

Dernière chose pour maintenant, mes cours du printemps commencent la semaine prochaine!! Ouais! Mon horraire est:

lundi - 7:30 - 8:30 pm jazz technique avec mini-choré (drop-in)
mardi - 6:30 - 7:30 pm fusion hip hop (drop-in)

Bonjour tout le monde!!

Juste une petite note pour vous mettre à point pour mes projets! Barbie World le 23 février était fantastique! C'était "sold out" dans 2 semaines. Notre public était merveilleux, notre SDC crew en arrière scène était super professionnel et mes dansueses étaient amazing. Tous notre "feedback" était positif! I was on a cloud! This photo is from the finale. As soon as I can, I will add more pictures to my website. Les billets pour Barbie World au Collège Durocher, samedi le 17 mai sont déjà en vente pour $15. Achetez-les avant qu'il y en reste plus!

Then I went to New York. wow! WOW! I did 15 classes in 8 days all over the city - Ailey Extension, Broadway Dance Centre, Steps on Broadway - I even danced with Jamal Sims, the choreographer from Step up 2. That was so great! C'était vraiment le fun. I'll upload more pictures here too when I have a couple extra minutes too.

My drop-ins are still going strong! I highly suggest that you register for the spring (april 26th) and or summer (june 23rd) to reserve your place ASAP. It still only costs $12 per class, ou appelle-moi pour les prix de session. Le beau temps commence et on était plusieurs dans le studio cette semaine. N'inquiètez vous pas mes danseurs, au pire des circonstances, j'ajouterai un autre cours durant l'été pour vous. Je va aussi mettre mes nouveaux videos sur mon site aussi incluant celui sur "Step by Step" - je suis en retard je le sais mais je sais que vous comprenez que je suis pas mal occuppée!!

pour mon nouveau projet de Hip-Hop.

Je cherche entre 10 et 16 danseurs. Nous allons monter une chorégraphie dans 10 semaines.

Les cours auront lieu les lundi soirs de 18h30 - 19h30 à Leiko Danse.

Le cout du cours n'est pas encore établi mais sera entre $9-$10 par cours.

Vous auriez une costume aussi pour le spectacle.

Le spectacle sera pour la première partie du spectacle de Scream BARBIE WORLD, le 17 mai, 2008 à l'auditorium Durocher à Saint-Lambert.

Je ne sais pas qui serait intéressé à cette nouvelle, mais, je monte un nouveau projet de danse. Comme vous allez savoir bientot, SCREAM a un nouveau show pour le 23 février qui s'appelle Barbie World. J'ai très hâte de le performer. Nous allons présenter notre spectacle le 17 mai aussi.

Pour le show en mai, j'aimerais monter une groupe de danseuses pour faire la première partie de notre show. Ca serait une chorégraphie de hip hop, je cherche à peu près 10 danseuses. Je va faire un audition en février. On pratiquerai de mars à mai une fois par semaine. Le coût et la journée ne sont pas décidés encore (ça va dépendre sur les disponibilités des studios) mais ça risque d'être soit les lundis soirs entre18h et 19h30 ou les samedis entre 13h et 14h30.

Si vous êtes intéressées, ou si vous connaissez du monde qui seront, SVP, dites-le moi aussi tot possible.

I would like to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas!! It's only been one week that I haven't had any drop-ins and I'm missing you already. If you think that's bad, it's only been 6 days since no Scream rehearsal and I'm going into withdrawal. I'm crazy, it's official.
My website is now in good hands people, it will be brand "new-ified" soon! It's already looking great, I can't wait to show you all!
I sent most of you a newsletter in an email with updates on my life, let me know if the file didn't attach, I'll send another one to you. In the new year, it will all be linked to my site! Hourray for Sylvain, technology and reliable people!

La compétition est encore ouverte, on est juste 150 votes plus loin d'être #5. Je suis certaine que si on continue à voter en grand nombres, on va monter plus haut. En tout cas, si vous avez 5 secondes pour nous (Kim & moi), ça serait vraiment apprécié!

N'oubliez-pas la journée portes ouvertes de SCREAM samedi à 13h... on va avoir des beaux calendriers de SCREAM à vendre aussi! Ils sont écoeurantes, je suis certaine! C'est Marie-Eve Larose qui me les ai montées. Elle est VRAIMENT une bonne "graphic designer" - la meilleure!

Dans les prochaines semaines, on participera dans le show Longueuil Remixé - je suis sur que vous avez vu dans le métro des affiches avec un acteur déguisé en Charles Lemyone, c'est ce show là. SCREAM danse la finale que moi, j'ai fait la chorégraphie! Je danserai aussi un solo dans le show... I'm so excited & honored that I was asked! On fera 8 réprésentations!

***SPECIAL EVENT***

Samedi, le 8 décembre SCREAM fais un "open house" une journée "portes ouvertes" comme levée de fonds pour aider à financer notre show le 23 février prochain.

De 13h à 14h30, n'importe qui est invité à faire le cours de technique de SCREAM avec nous pour $10. We are expecting a lot of people so tell everyone! Après le cours, il y aura une présentation informel de nos chorégraphies en progrès (si vous ne faites pas le cours mais vous êtes quand même intéressé de voir nos chorés, vous arrivez pour 14h30). Il y aura du café, du thé & du temps pour nous demander des questions sur SCREAM & nos projets pour l'avenir. Il n'y a pas d'age limite - so anyone can come!!

Time for an update! Thank you so much to everyone who made it out to (450). Merci à tous nos commanditatires aussi (Arbraska, Kamicase, Tony Finelli, OBS clinic from the Jewish General Hospital, Marie-Eve Larose, la famille Finelli)! We love you. I love you. It was an awesome send-off for the show. I can't believe I won't be hearing "♪ people in sublurbia" over & over anymore...

I'm currently working on a show for the 350 anniversary of Longueuil called "Longueuil Remixé". SCREAM's dancing the finale for the show (♪ médi, médi, médiator...). Il va avoir 8 réprésentations. It's pretty exciting. A couple weeks ago, me, Tanya & Arianne went to a press conference & our picture was in the Courrier du Sud.

SCREAM's new show is in the preparation stages. Notre prochain show est le 23 février 2008 - écrivez-le déjà dans vos agendas! Je ne vous donne aucun détails! You'll have to wait & see!

Mes drop-ins vont super bien! On rit, on danse, on "sweat"... c'est le fun! Si vous n'avez pas osé de venir encore... qu'est-ce que vous attendiez? Come on! Je suis vraiment fière de mes élèves. Ils travaillent super fort!

Lauren Hill started last week too... it looks like a promising year. I've got a contemporary class & hip hop fusion. Durocher a commencé aussi! J'ai 30 filles dans chacune de mes cours! Je suis contente de revoir des visages! I'm going to have to get used to getting called Miss. B all ver again!

I love dancing. Did I mention that before?

Hey dudes. I know what you are all thinking... Lynsey needs to be on TV. Well, your dreams have come true friends, your dreams have come true. I will be on TVRS, channel 9 (VOX) on Videotron Tuesday night (September 18th - yes tomorow) at 7:30 pm. It will be repeated Thursday at 11:00 am & Sunday at 5:00 pm. It's a show called Jonction Rive Rud, hosted by my friend Mylène Péthel. I'll be promoting SCREAM's show (450). I was really nervous during the taping, I'm sure there will be some hilarities that I'll embarassed about later. You can always catch it at www.tvrs.ca too. I'll be at my drop-in at Studio Bizz so I'll miss it so I hope someone is taping it...

I will also be featured in the South Shore journal "Le Magazine" this week. It comes out Thursday. I am also talking about the show (450). It's been an exciting week for me & it's only Monday - I also had a press conference this morning for Longueuil Remixé, celebrating the 350 anniversary of Longueuil. I'm choreographing the finale & SCREAM is performing. I'm sure you've seen the posters all over the city - it's the advertisements featuring Charles Lemoyne. Look for them, they're everywhere! It's at the end of November.

For those of you who don't think I'm busy enough, this is why. I'm going to bed now, I'm so tired, I forgot to write in French.

Devinez-quoi!? C'est peut-être plus intéressant pour moi mais j'ai eu un entrevue hier du journal régionale de la rive sud "Le Magazine" concernant mon show (450). Le journal va sortir juste avant le show! AUSSI, je va passer à la télé le 17 septembre sur un émission sur VOX - aussi pour (450). Je va vous dire quand et à quelle heure quand j'aurais plus d'infos. Aussi, SCREAM viens juste de commencer, I'm really excited about the new group! AND we have a show for Longueuil Remixé, it's the 350 birthday of Longueuil this year & we're dancing the finale of the show! I'm just énervée! There's a lot going on & I'm happy.
N'oubliez-pas notre show (450) le 29 septembre! On a besoin de vous comme public. Venez! De toute façon, I'm going to call a lot of you this week to make sure you have tickets before they sell out!

I just got home from New York! Airplanes are always scary... but I was ok! Everytime, I get just a little braver. I took some amazing dance classes at Broadway Dance Centre & Steps on Broadway (Jazz-Funk, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Pilates & Ballet). I had great time with my homies too! Nothing is sore, but of course that's what I said last time before I called my chiropractor in a panic.

It took me forever and a day to decide who I was going to take from the audition for SCREAM to work with me this year. Here's the final listing for 2007-2008:

For those of you that weren't chosen, please do not be discouraged. I thought you were ALL fantastic dancers. I will keep everyone posted on shows, trips & auditions for the upcoming year. Thank you everyone who participated - you all made me feel very special! You are ALL very talented dancers - even if you didn't make it. Remember, it's as I explained at the audititon... you all dance well, you all have a tremendous amount of talent. I was looking for something specific for this show - because I didn't take you this year, doesn't mean you're not good enough. Keep dancing everyone! Show me that I made the wrong decision by not accepting you!

I could not be more proud of everyone who auditioned for Scream this past weekend. I have to say, it's been the hardest time for me to decide who's in... I'm still thinking about it. My mind is not completely made up - I said it would be by today but it's not. I'm so proud. Everyone gave it their all. There was such a big turnout! For the girls who did not get in, KEEP DANCING! You were all very good. I will have an official update tomorow night for the official Scream Team 2007-2008. Oh my. You guys all rocked! I'm so proud. So proud. xoxoxox

WOW. Just when I thought my students were superstars, you go ahead & dance like you did on Monday & Tuesday night! Studio Bizz was on fire guys! Vous étiez super! Il n'y a pas de mots... Je suis en train de mettre les film sur mon ordi (I don't really know how) but I'm trying. I can't wait for you guys to see it! As a side note, I'm trying to find a studio for Thursdays just in case we are a million again on Monday.
If you missed it, SCREAM performed outside at Mt. Royal Metro at 9:00 PM. Thanks to those of you who stayed, we needed you - we were really nervous. Pour le monde qui l'ont manqué, on va danser lundi prochain encore au métro Mt. Royal à 21h. Pour le restant de l'été, on va faire des mini shows impromptu partout dehors surtout les mardis après les drop-ins. I'll put the dates & times & places under shows for SCREAM. For my peeps in SCREAM: it was so fun! My back is so sore! The pavement is unforgiving - Kim, I don't know if the newspapers is a good idea... think about the butt part.

Helloww! I'm back from BC! Je suis tellement énervé, j'ai hâtes à mon cours demain. I think there are going to be a lot of peeps this week - make sure you show up early to register. If there are too many personnes, je va ouvrir un autre cours les mercredis, mais il va falloir qu'on enregistre So You Think You Can Dance. I can't wait to see you guys!

Allo everyone from Vancouver! C'est tellement beau ici je ne reviens pas! We've been walking around all over the place - eating salmon, dancing, enjoying the outdoors. I'm in heaven! Today, I have 3 dance classes lined up... Modern, House & street jazz. On va voir si je va réussitr à tout faire. Tomorow we're off to Tofino. On va peut-être essayer le surf! Arg! I'm so happy. BRAVO! Je suis tellement fière de toutes mes danseuses à Ecole de Danse Hugo DePot! Le show était fantastique - j'ai seulement pleuré like... the whole time!!! I'm so proud of you guys. Le monde était debout la dernière fois que vous avez faites "Thriller". Les photos et les vidéos du show seront montés bientot - peut-etre la semaine prochaine. Je suis maintenant à Toronto avec ma soeur pour voir mon père. On est venu pour lui faire une surprise pour sa fete. He was shocked! On se repose avant mes drop-ins commencent lundi prochain. J'ai hâte!!! Ca fait trois jours que je n'ai pas dansé mais ça me manques already. A bientot everybody!
